Login to this webpage frequently to stay current with specific workshop schedules and descriptions.
Workshop attendees must be lodging in one of Lonesome Hollow’s B&B rooms, suites, or cabin. If our lodging is full, and if the instructor is willing, additional attendees may book a room at other local lodging establishments. Attendees are offered a wide range of lodging options at Lonesome Hollow, ranging from a shared cabin or suite to a private, deluxe bedroom, or even a full luxurious suite. A full country breakfast is included for all workshop participants.
The maximum attendance is set by the instructor, but in no case will exceed twenty. This will allow for a very personal, hands-on experience and will guarantee a generous amount of instructor-attendee interaction for everyone.
Workshop Description

Haute Cuisine Workshop: French chef Monique Hooker has retired from her Chicago restaurant and now resides in the beautiful Driftless Area, not far from Lonesome Hollow. In her "retirement" Monique continues her fabulous culinary career. We are fortunate enough to be partnering with Monique to bring a few of our guests an incredible opportunity to lodge with us at Lonesome Hollow and to learn new cooking skills, working side by side with a charming and most talented Frech Chef. Our "Haute Cuisine Workshops" are scheduled for the weekends of April 16/17, November 5/6, and December 3/4. Watch this page on our website as well as Monique's own website, www.moniquescuisine.com to learn the exact content of each of these workshops. You may be focussing on pates, chocolate desserts, or an incredible duck dinner. These workshops are limited to a maximum of 14 persons, with priority being given to guests staying at Lonesome Hollow.
The April 16/17 workshop will focus on Charcuterie - the art of making pate and sausage. Learn how to make these once forgotten foods, using techniques that originated in 15th century France. Choose a one, two, or three day adventure with Monique. See workshop details and pricing at www.moniquescuisine.com.

Amish Experience Workshop: Spend an entire afternoon with local tour guides Kevin and Patsy who know the Amish of the Cashton Settlement as well as anyone. See an Amish built house, inside and out. Drive through the rolling Driftless Area landscape and hear Kevin and Patsy describe life in the Cashton settlement. Visit the workshops of skilled Amish craftsmen. Enjoy lunch in one of the most unique eateries you have ever experienced. Finish your afternoon with a tour of a local round barn, one designed and built by Alga Shivers, the decendent of a free black man who settled in the famous Cheyenne Valley of Vernon County in the mid 1800's. Kevin is a retired history teacher and will make the story of Wisconsin's Amish come alive for you. Patsy is a talented artist who can point you toward specific Amish craftsman (furniture makers, bakers, leather workers, candy makers, basket weavers, ...). We have scheduled Amish Experience Workshops for the weekends of April 30/May1, June 4/5, and October 29/30. These workshops are limited to a maximum of eight participants. The cost of the Amish Experience Workshop is $80 per person, or $150 per couple, and this price includes lunch. Call our Inn to make your reservations for these weekends and the Amish tours.
